The Port Washington Library recently presented two programs addressing children’s literature.

Port Washington author and artist Jane Breskin Zalben led the panel discussion: “Past, Present and Future: Insiders Look at Children’s Literature in the 21st Century.” She was part of a panel that presented an overview of the industry, examining important questions about the evolution and future of children’s literature.

The second program was a reception that followed the panel discussion. It featured a book signing for the Children’s Illustrator Exhibition.

The exhibition will hang in the library’s Main Gallery until Dec. 1. On display is original art by children’s book illustrators Brian Floca, Roxie Munro, Jerry Pinkney, Sergio Ruzzier, Amy Schwartz, Laura Vaccaro Seeger, Paulis Waber, Jane Breskin Zalben and the late Bernard Waber. The exhibition is sponsored by the Port Washington branch of Astoria Federal Savings.

Gallery hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Signed books by the artists are available for sale at special holiday pricing.
