Port Washington native Virginia (Ginny) Galasieski, 87, died Saturday, Sept. 30, at her home in Edgewater, FL. She was born on Avenue A in Port Washington and attended John J. Daily school and graduated from Port Washington High School. She was a member of the High School drama club and also played violin.
A memorial will be held in Port Washington in the near future for family and friends.
She moved to Edgewater, FL, from Bethpage, in September 1985. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank (Joe Galasieski) in November of 1995. Ginny retired from Northrop Grumman Aerospace Corp. in 1985 as an administrative assistant after 30 years.
She was co-founder of the Long Island Ladies Club in Edgewater/New Smyrna Beach, Florida established February 1989 and a member of the Sacred Heart Parish. She was a volunteer of Bert Fish Medical Center Auxiliary (served as auxiliary president: 2001-2003). She also volunteered at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center, Edgewater.
She is survived by sisters Jane Sica Holm (wife of Henry Holm), Rose Sica, Josephine Sica Jalbert (deceased wife of Armond Jalbert, deceased) and brother Nicholas Sica (husband of Christine Sica). Nephews Robert Holm (husband of Karen Holm), Edmond Jalbert (husband of Amy Jalbert), Thomas Jalbert and Nicholas Sica Jr. She is also survived by seven great nieces and nephews.
