Nutcrackers Of The Season


balletThe winter ballet classic, The Nutcracker, will be performed at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, LIU Post, 720 Northern Blvd., Brookville, and the SUNY College at Old Westbury, 223 Store Hill Rd., Old Westbury, this holiday season.

The Eglevsky Ballet, a group of talented young dancers, comes to the Tilles Center, on Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 22 at noon and 4 p.m.

Under the artistic direction of Laszlo Berdo, Eglevsky Ballet continues its annual tradition. This year, Lia Cirio and Nelson Madrigal, principal dancers of Boston Ballet, dance the roles of Sugar Plum and Cavalier.

An opening-night reception follows Friday’s performance. There is a suggested donation of $65. Reservations are recommended.

After the Saturday 11 a.m. performance, guests may attend a meet-and-greet with the dancers for questions and photos.

Tickets range from $27 to $82 at the box office, online at or by phone at 516-299-3100.

The Lumiere Ballet performs in the Maguire Theater at the SUNY College at Old Westbury on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m.
The award-winning students and professional dancers are directed by Svetlana Caton and Venti Petrov.

Tickets are $30 for general admission and $25 for seniors and children under the age of 16. Tickets can be purchased by calling the ballet at 631-586-2921 or at the college before the show.
