Lucy Salerno (“Miss Lucy”), who has worked at the Port Washington Public Library for about 45 years, has retired. At her recent retirement party, over 100 people from town stopped by to honor Salerno. Myron Blumenfeld, with whom she conducted story time for many years, attended the party. Members of the Friends of the Library (FOL) presented Salerno with a certificate. “Some children I read to during story time are now bringing their children to story time,” Salerno said. Salerno is a cherished member of the Port Washington community and she will be missed in the children’s room at the library.
