Millrose Games Qualifier

The NYRR Millrose Game Trials were held on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory (216 Fort Washington Ave.). Sacred Heart Academy qualified for the John
P. Prendergast CHSAA (Catholic High School Athletic Association) Sprint Medley Relay. The relay is a 400 meter leg followed by two 200 meter legs and an 800 meter anchor leg.

The top six relay teams qualified for the 2016 Millrose Games. Sacred Heart Academy placed 4th with a time of 4:18.48.

Sacred Heart’s Relay team: Gia Medayil, a senior, ran the 400m; Erin Grueneberg, a junior, ran the 200m; Faith Kenny, a sophomore, ran the 200m; and Port Washington resident Ellen Byrnes, a sophomore, ran the 800m.

The Millrose Games will be held on Feb. 20 at The Armory (details on www.armorytrack.com or www.nyrrmillrosegames.org).

The six relay teams that qualified for that race are: St. Anthony’s (4:12.09), Kellenberg Memorial (4:13.34), St. John the Baptist (4:16.17), Sacred Heart Academy (4:18.48), Holy Trinity (4:19.68) and Cardinal Spellman (4:22.87).
