Home Run Electric Expands Business

Home Run Electric, which has been providing electrical services for homes, offices and businesses in Port Washington for seven years, recently expanded its business with the opening of Home Run Electric Generators. With the grand opening of Home Run Electric Generators at 1146 Port Washington Blvd. on Saturday, June 13, owner Guiseppe DiBartolomeo has created a generator showroom “where people can actually see the units instead of looking at manuals online,” he said. He purchased the building on Port Washington Blvd. and renovated it to provide a store featuring state-of-the-art demonstrations and sales of generators. “There is nothing like it on Long Island,” DiBartolomeo said of his new showroom.HomeRunElectric_070115C

DiBartolomeo has been doing electrical and generator work for 25 years. He started out in Glendale, Queens, and then moved his office to 12 Maple St. in Port Washington seven years ago. He purchased the building on Maple Street, which is a mixed-use building with offices on the ground level and a rental apartment upstairs. DiBartolomeo loves the diversity and uniqueness of Port Washington. “I meet a lot if interesting people,” he said, adding that he is “hoping to be the guy who is [a part of the community] for 40-plus years.”

Although most of his customers come from Port Washington, “we get work from Manhattan to Montauk,” DiBartolomeo said. There has definitely been an increase in generator work since Hurricane Sandy. Before Sandy, Home Run Electric sold about 20 generator units a year. Since Sandy, that number has significantly increased to about 120 units a year. The biggest part of the business though, is not the initial sale, but the warranty service. “If you have an issue with a generator, we directly fix it,” DiBartolomeo said. Home Run Electric provides a great deal of warranty business for Kohler, he added.

Home Run Electric has 12 employees and has added two new people to cover the new generator showroom. Home Run Electric is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information, go to www.homerunelectric.com.
