Some of the gamblers were seventh graders Eric Moss as Benny Southstreet, Daniel Popovich as Nicely-Nicely Johnson, Casey Lee as Big Jule, and sixth graders Owen Brady as Harry the Horse, Luke Ellwood as Rusty Charlie and Maximus Mongelli as Angie the Ox. Jane Sanders, an eighth grader, was featured as Sarah’s Aunt Arvida Abernathy and sixth grader Ciara Atkins portrayed General Cartwright, head of the Save-A-Soul Mission organization.
The audience enjoyed classics such as “Luck Be a Lady” and lively dance routines including a gamblers’ dance, a snappy rendition of “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” and two numbers performed by Adelaide and the Kit Kat Girls. Larry Sorensen provided piano accompaniment, and sixth grader Grayson Cuneo served as drummer. Additional parent volunteers included AnneMarie Morrissey as choreographer, Kim Hertlein and Audrey Calpin as costume mistresses, Mary Moss as playbill publisher and Jodi Gilligan as manager of ticket sales.
