familyandchildrenslogoIf you have an hour a week to spare, you can make a big difference in the quality of life of a lonely senior. Family & Children’s Association, a Mineola-based social services organization, is looking for volunteers for its new Friendly Visitor Program. The program sends a trained volunteer to the home of a Nassau senior once a week.

If you volunteer, your job is to simply sit and talk for one hour. For homebound seniors, this companionship may be the highlight of their week. The program is scheduled to start next month and training is beginning now.

To volunteer, email lstern@familyandchildrens.org or call 516-292-1300, ext. 2239.
