According to Peter Forman, commissioner of the Port Washington-Manhasset Office of Emergency Management, Port Washington Blvd. was closed in both directions on Friday, Jan. 15, from Longview Road to Sandy Hollow Road for most of the day due to a gas leak. The leak happened where a construction crew was working in front of St. Peter of Alcantara school.

St. Peter of Alcantara’s lower school building was evacuated to the upper school building for the entire school day as a safety precaution. The leak was brought under control within several hours.
