Dar Williams is set to perform at the Landmark on Main Street on Friday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m. She has a new album out, Emerald, and the Landmark has been a regular stop for her over the years. “I’ve performed at the Landmark many times,” said Williams. “I love it there. The Landmark board always comes to see me before a performance and, when you’re on the road as much as I am, you like feeling that your performance is part of something larger and cool about the town, like the Landmark.”
Williams continued, “The acoustics and sound are great at the Landmark. They decided long ago that they were going to do it right. I’ve been to places where the sound guy is also the bartender. The Landmark has a great sound system in place; they do it really well.”Williams’ new album, Emerald, is named for her 20 years of travel. “I’ve made many friendships and seen many beautiful places. I can look back now and see what a beautiful life I’ve had, that it’s been like a jewel. I have perspective now. I recorded it in seven different studios, I have 12 friends on the record with me and I’ve covered songs I love.”
Lucy Wainwright Roche is opening the show. “I will definitely get her up on stage with me,” said Williams. “She’s a good friend and a great talent.” Williams is accompanied by her keyboard player, Bryn Roberts. “The Landmark has been a success story,” said Williams. “I feel like I’m part of that family.”
The show is sponsored by Massage Envy, WFUV and the Tepper Family Foundation. The Jeanne Rimsky Theater at Landmark on Main Street brings world-class performing artists and children’s theater to the Port community. Tickets are $50 for premium seats, $40 for select seats and $32 for standard. For more information go to www.landmarkonmainstreet.org or call 516-767-1384.
