Accident On West Shore

Accident_021815AAn accident on West Shore Road early Monday morning knocked down four power poles and stopped traffic in both directions for what police estimated would be the full day.

According to police, a vehicle traveling on West Shore Road crashed into a power pole around 12:30 a.m. That pole fell and took down three more.

The driver was air-lifted to a local hospital with a broken arm and other possible injuries. Alcohol was not involved in the accident, police said.

The damage did not cause any major power outages in Port Washington. PSEG-LI was on the scene to repair the poles, but windy conditions hampered the work.

  1. Just wondering how many accidents happened on West Shore Road. On Saturday evening West Shore Rd was closed both ways (North – South) at about 6sh. It was also closed all day Sunday. On Sunday night I received an alert from North Shore letting me know that West Shore Rd. was closed and would remain closed until approximately 5pm or later. Newsday reports an accident on Saturday at 2 pm. So, what really happened? Is the driver okay? were there other passengers? what kind of vehicle was it?
