Port Washington Tri Team Takes Gold In Canada

The Port Washington-based TJA Tri Team brought home the gold from Muskoka, Canada, last week with a first place in the Division V championship at Ironman Muskoka 70.3.

By doing so, the team qualified for the Pan American Triathlon Championships to be held next year in Puerto Rico.

The TJA Tri Team is made up of seven Port Washington residents, Mike Lewis, Will Thompson, Kenny Abel, Phil Rybecky, Joe Sottile, Kenny Faltischedk and Danny Weiss, who have competed since 2011, often training up to 20 hours per week together.

In 2013, the team won the Division V Championship at Ironman Wisconsin and narrowly missed winning in 2015 at Ironman Lake Placid, NY.
The TJA Tri Team has raised more than $30,000 for Camp Sunrise, where it has organized “Iron-kids” events, where the campers got to experience first-hand the feel of a triathlon competition.
