Obituary: Michael J. “Mugsy” Pickering

Michael J. “Mugsy” Pickering, of Port Washington, died on March 27, 2016. “Mugsy” was a 43-year member of the Port Washington Fire Department Flower Hill Hose Co. No. 1, the Road Runners Racing Team, a former member of the Williston Park Fire Department, ObitPickering040616Aserved his country in the U.S. Army and as a Hurricane Sandy and 9/11 First Responder. He is the loving son of Virginia and the late Tom, brother of James, Maureen and Colleen, and beloved uncle of 12 nieces and nephews. A visitation and service was held at Flower Hill Hose Co. No. 1, on March 31. The interment took place April 1, at Calverton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Port Washington Fire Medic Company No. 1, 65 Harbor Rd., Port Washington, are appreciated.
