Letter: Bill Allen

I was saddened to hear of the passing of one of the finest men I have ever known, Mr. Bill Allen.

I first met Bill in 1959 when I was beginning a 34-year career teaching in Port Washington. Sousa was a Junior High School then and had only been open for one year. I could not have had a warmer welcome or, as the years passed, more help and guidance from this kind, understanding and patient educator, He made Sousa a happy place to be and I have always cherished my memory of the 25 years i spent there and the man that began it all, Bill Allen. May his memory be blessed.
